Shabbaton dinner @ Chabad House

Chabad on Campus hosts many students weekly in our home. Regularly we hold a Shabbaton dinner at a Chabad House or hall with numbers ranging from about 60 to over 120 Jewish students at our co-hosted function in May 2004 with AUJS. Guest speakers have included AIJAC writers, Israeli Aliya Shaliach, guest Rabbis and other both local and overseas guests. One month we heard a touching personal story from Israeli Shilo resident about terrorist attack where he lost his son r"l

These evenings are lots of fun for students, numbers continually growing, including many 'regulars' already, as well as Jewish content & of course L'Chaims!

A joint project with Chabad Youth, Shabbat 500 was arguably Australia's largest ever Shabbat dinner for Jewish students and young adults. Over 500 people heard guest speaker R Alex Carlebach of Sth Africa speak about 'Why bad things happen to good people'. Other highlights included a personal greeting from PM Howard, a 4-course Unger catered meal and a wonderful opportunity for Jewish young adults to meet! We will IY'H hold more Shabbat 500 events in the future!!!
